Atlanta: Watching from the Cheap Seats
By Craig Jackson - June 09, 2006
After scoreless first, second inning becomes eventful for both teams.
Through the first 2 innings, Charleston queitly went about putting together 4 hits, including 2 in the second to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Unfortunately, they were unable to push anything across the plate. Bottom of the second, LF Jeff Kindel, who had 2 of the hits drop in front of him, drilled a shot over the right center field wall to give Tech a 1-0 lead.
Speaking of the right field wall, behind the fences is the production area for all the media vehicles. That area is surrounded by a cinderblock wall that encloses the stadium. This wall on Techwood Avenue is begining to quickly resemble the buildings on Waveland Avenue behind Wrigley Field. Fans are sitting on top of the wall and enjoying the game from free. Great seats? No. Cheap seats? You bet. THink they care? Doubt it!
