Atlanta: Davis saves Davis

Vandy's Ty Davis seemed to have settled into a groove in the second; after Doug Pickens' leadoff single, Davis struck out Derek Van Buskirk and A.J. Scheidt.
Vandy's Ty Davis seemed to have settled into a groove in the second; after Doug Pickens' leadoff single, Davis struck out Derek Van Buskirk and A.J. Scheidt. But Mike Schmidt laid down a perfect bunt to put runners at the corners (yes, that sounds strange to say) and then Eric Rose lined a soft liner just past the reach of second baseman Alex Feinberg in short right.
But right fielder Ryan Davis came charging in, avoided Feinberg and made a tremendous diving catch just before the ball hit the ground.
Now, Vandy's Brad French led off the inning, took second on Macias's sacrifice, and has apparantly scored on a wild pitch. Michigan is arguing that Pedro Alvarez fouled off the pitch and there's a conference, so we'll see if the run stands. It's taking four umpires about three minutes so far, and no decision yet.
Now a ruling: the run stands. 1-0 Vandy over Michigan, top of the third.
