Atlanta: Great Defensive Play

By Craig Jackson - June 10, 2006

While the last couple of innings have been dvoid of any spectacular offense, the defense has risen to the occasion.

Both teams have flashed some leatrher in the last 2 frames. From the hot robbing play of the Charleston shortstop, to the leftfield assisted double play (Catch and throw out by a mile at first). Defense has played its role here.

The key to the series, at least in my eyes, is Jeff Kindel. slightly hobbled by an injury, he has hit 2 bombs, including the one today that broke open the game, and played superb outfield, with a throw out at the plate yesterday, and doubling up a runner at first today.

As for Charleston, Graham Godfrey, normally the Cougar Friday night starter, has come in and pitched effectively. He gave up a pair of runs in the fifth, but has not allowed a runner past second since then.

We head to the bottom of the 8th, and Tech is 6 outs away from Omaha, leading the Cougars 8-2
