Austin: Killshot?

By Glenn Tanner - June 04, 2006

In the top of the 8th, NC State just scored three two-out runs to take a 6-3 lead.

Matt Still led off with his third hit of the day, and Matt Pond’s single ended the day for Texas pitcher Adrian Alaniz. After a sac bunt, Texas brought in Randy Boone to try to work out of the jam. He got amazingly close. Boone struck out Caleb Mangum and had #9 hitter Jonathon Diaz in an 0-2 hole. With the crowd standing and cheering, Diaz worked the count to 3-2, then blooped a double over the shortstop’s head to score both runners. Matt Camp doubled him in to make it 6-3.

Gib Hobson just set down the Longhorns 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning.
