Austin: Not So Fast, Stanford!

By Glenn Tanner - June 04, 2006

I’ve seen 98 degrees on the stadium scoreboard, but NC State is still showing some fight in its second game of the afternoon. The Wolfpack just rallied and tied it 5-5 after five innings.

Stanford had scored a run in the top of the 5th thanks to singles by Minaker (3rd hit of the day), Taylor (2nd hit), and Lewis (2nd hit), but NC State tied it in the bottom of the inning.

Matt Camp doubled and scored on an Aaron Bates single. Bates moved to third on Jon Still’s double (5 hits in his 2 games today) and scored on a sac fly.

There are maybe 400 people in the stadium, and I’m pretty sure there are only about 25 of them sitting in their assigned seats. Everyone has moved down low for better viewing except for a group of Stanford fans who continue to sit in their seats in the top three rows of the stadium.

I know perfectly well that if you change seats while your team is playing well, you risk affecting the cosmic equilibrium of things and might cause them to start playing poorly, so I applaud their smart choice of seating.
