Austin: Stanford's Six Innings Away

By Glenn Tanner - June 04, 2006

Stanford has jumped ahead of NC State, leading 4-3 at the end of three.

The Cardinal have scored in every inning. A double by Chris Minaker and a single by Chris Lewis produced a run in the first. Brent Milleville led off the top of the second with a double and scored on a ground out. A crooked number showed up on the scoreboard in the third, as Jeff Hester singled, Minaker tripled, and Michael Taylor doubled.

The Wolfpack mounted a two-out rally in the third. Ramon Corona and Aaron Bates singled, then DH Jon Still cemented his place on my All-Tournament ballot with a three-run bomb.

Stanford starter Jeremy Bleich had looked in control up to that point -- he was a strike away from still having a shutout. NC State is already on their third pitcher.
