Charlottesville: Meet Virginia
By Elliot Olshansky - June 02, 2006
So, that would be four straight entries pulled from song titles, huh?
Well, when Virginia came to bat, though, the sounds that were music to the fans' ears were those of bats striking balls...and there was plenty of that to be heard.
Greg Miclat led off with a single to shallow right. Barndon Marsh followed with a single of his own to give the Hoos runners on the corners for Sean Doolittle. Doolittle's long fly to center was good for his team-best 54th RBI of the season. David Adams walked, and Brandon Guyer's single to shallow center loaded the bases for Tom Hagan. I think it's safe to say that Lehigh starter Kyle Collina is not a happy man right now. Or a calm one: he walked Hagan on five pitches, with the lone strike coming on 3-0, to make it a 2-2 ballgame.
Not for long, though, as Adams scored on a sac fly from Jeremy Farrell...I'll tell you what, Lehigh is paying for every out here.
Beau Seabury finally strikes out to end the inning, but Virginia is in fine shape.
I've just been informed that there's chili in the next booth, pardon me a moment...
