Charlottesville: Tomorrow, Tomorrow, You're Only A Day Away

By Elliot Olshansky - June 02, 2006

Well, they've waited this long, they can wait another 13 hours and change. The Gamecocks and Purple Aces will play at 11 a.m. tomorrow, with the regularly scheduled Saturday games following at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Virginia head coach Brian O'Connor has got to love his decision to play the early game today, as the Cavaliers will be well-rested for tomorrow's game, while their opponents will be playing their second game of the day. As they say: to the victor go the spoils. Then again, Lehigh gets that advantage, too, perhaps even more so, as their opponent will have just played, and will have to turn around and play a second game.

Personally, I like the idea of the home team playing first. It gets the fans into the stadium early, with the effect that a few more of them will stick around to watch some more baseball. Of course, we didn't get to test that theory tonight, but I've seen that happen with events in other sports.

That more or less does it for me, from here, but go back and check some of the other entries in a while, because I'm going to be posting some photos from the day's (abbreviated) action into my other entries.

Goodnight!
