Clemson: MSU - Elon, Part Deaux

By Craig Jackson - June 04, 2006

Here we go again. Elon. Mississippi State. On the field. Loser leaves town.

This matchup features the up and coming Elon Phoenix trying to get past veteran Mississipip State for the second time in the tournament. One has to wonder what effect the thumping Clemson put on the Phoenix last night will have on the team. Seemed like everything the Phoenix pitchers threw in the direction of the plate left headed in the opposite direction with alarming regularity.

On the other side of the field, MSU began to show signs of life at the plate, as well as plaing better defensively and pitching with more authority. THis should be a spirited affair. THe only question would have to be whether or not either team will have enough pitching left to take on Clemson in the 7 PM championship game.

Stay tuned for more

Oh yeah, something I found pretty amazing. THe MSU SID made mention last night that this is the 53rd popst season tournament/regional/CWS in which Ron Polk has been head coach. 53 times in, only 2 times did he go 0 and 2. 51 post season affairs with at least 1 win. Pretty impressive feat if you ask me.
