Clemson: Predicting a Bulldog Win
By Craig Jackson - June 03, 2006
OK. Any of you guys know me fro SEBaseball REview will know that during the regional selection process, I always gave Mark Etheridge a stone lock prediction of some eam that would make it in. Well, today, I will go one step further: I will predict what team will win a game. In the game today between UNC Ashville and Mississippi State, I predict a (drum roll please) Bulldog victory!!!
OK. So both teams are Bulldogs. You caught me. In another beautiful day for baseball here at Clemson, I sit here in the 3rd inning of a 2-0 MSU lead. State struck in the first inning with an infield single by Jeffrey Rea and a FC by Edward Easley were followed by a Sac fly by SEC hitting leader THomas Berkerey and a 2 RBI single by Brian LaNinfa.
State has continued to swing the bat well, with 5 hits now through 4 innings, but not being able to punch any more runs across the plate.
Meanwhile, Ashville has been limited to 1 hit by surprise starter Josh Johnson. Johnson is a junior right hander who was not slated for the rotation this weekend, but has a history of coming up and pitching well in big games.
Another nice crowd at Doug Kinsmore Stadium on hand for the game. Slight chance of rain later today, but more likely just humid and hot.
