Fayetteville: Tied at 1 as Server Revived

By - June 02, 2006

As we've all just been moved to a NEW server, in hopes of everything working, here's all that happened while I was away!

In the third for Arkansas…
Matt Willard strikes out looking
Craig Gentry singles up the middle
Clint Arnold singles to right, Gentry to third and crowd to raucous
James “J.R” Ewing singles to left, Gentry scores, Arnold to second, and crowd ROARS like it’s a football game…crowd still on its feet and cheering as Hamblin steps up. Rob Walton, ORU’s coach, walks to the mound, and the fans erupt in a hog call, followed by Arkansas! (first base side), then Razorbacks! (third base side).
Danny Hamblin strikes out swinging
Jake Dugger walks, loading the bases for David Hum
David Hum strikes out swinging to end the inning.

The Razorbacks tie the game, 1-1, but leaving the bases loaded was not what Dave Van Horn wanted to see. Arkansas was going into this tournament focused on cutting down on their strikeouts, so Van Horn’s got to have mixed emotions as we head to the top of the fourth.

In the fourth inning for Oral Roberts…
Kelly Minissale struck out swinging. That’s 6 K’s for Schmidt already this game.
Carter McQuigg doubles to left. Arnold attempted to throw McQuigg out at second, but his relay to Ewing was not in time.
Brian Aguailar pops out to Schmidt for the second out.
Dave Jorn, Arkansas pitching coach, walks to the mound to talk to Schmidt. The umpire walks over to break up the talk, and Jorn jogs back to the dugout.
Pat Warfle flies out to Gentry in left center

So, the Golden Eagles squander a double by McQuigg, and the game remains tied at 1.

In the fourth inning for Arkansas…
The crowds begin to move a little, stopping for drinks and bathroom breaks, but as Blake Parker’s name is mentioned, the crowd cheers and people turn around instantly to watch.
Blake Parker singles to left to open the inning. Parker has reached base both times for the Hogs so far in this game.
Brian Walker grounds into a double play, third to short to first (5-6-3)
Matt Willard walks to keep the inning alive
Craig Gentry grounds out to third to end the inning

Not much doing for the Hogs, and we’re knotted up 1-1 after 4 innings.
