Fayetteville: Walker, Duffy get into scuffle, ORU bench clears
By - June 02, 2006
The action NEVER STOPS with this game tonight, as tempers flared between ORU's Brendan Duffy, and Arkansas catcher Brian Walker. Duffy was hit by Nick Schmidt's pitch, and apparently said something to Walker that upset the fiery catcher.
Walker walked alongside Duffy, and the home plate umpire sprinted to seperate the two. Boos cascaded from the fans, and turned to roaring boos when ORU's bench cleared, ready to fight.
I'm sensing that this could be the turning point of the game....the Arkansas fans have had enough. They are riled by the umpires, riled at the ORU players, and as Schmidt strikes out Tim Torres, the crowd has erupted in the biggest cheer of the night, followed by HUGE boos for Duffy as he walked back to the dugout. If the Hogs can string a few hits, this could be the key point in the game. We'll see as David Hum bats to start the bottom of the 6th.
