Houston: Finally a Zero on the Board

By Jeremy Mills - June 12, 2006

Cole St. Clair gave up a two-out single to Joseph Hughes in the second, but escaped the inning without giving up a run. Through 1 1/2 innings, we're still tied at 2.

Rant: I don't get it when someone gets on first with two outs and the pitcher directs his entire focus on the runner. If you get the batter out, the runner doesn't matter. St. Clair threw over to first three times (including showing his best move) before balking the runner over to second. Chuckie Caufield flew out to center to end the threat, but I'd think you'd want to conserve your energy a little better with the balmy Houston weather.
