Houston: Kenny Ford, Man of the Match
By Jeremy Mills - June 11, 2006
Kenny Ford entered the game with no homers and five RBI in 39 at bats this season. So far this game, he's 2-for-2 with his first collegiate home run and a two-run double to give him 3 RBI (and two runs scored).
Rice forced Daniel McCutchen into his first long inning in the top of the fourth, and the Sooner ace is starting to show some signs of fatigue. After Joe Savery and Aaron Luna singled to start the inning, McCutchen recorded two straight outs before the count went full to Kenny Ford. Ford blooped a double to centerfield that fell just out of reach of three Sooners before Tyler Henley laced a double to the leftfield wall to bring Ford home. A Greg Buchanan strikeout ended the rally, but Rice plated three runs to take a 5-1 lead after 3 1/2 innings.
