Houston: Let's Play Ball

By Jeremy Mills - June 10, 2006

The coaches and umpires are meeting behind home plate, so we're less than five minutes from kicking off the super regional between the Oklahoma Sooners and Rice Owls.

Eddie Degerman (12-1, 1.67) takes the mound for the Owls. When these two teams met in February at Reckling Park, Degerman started for the Owls. After a leadoff double by Chuckie Caufield, Degerman shut down the Sooners. He went 7 innings allowing just that one hit while walking three and striking out eleven.

Steven Guerra (11-3, 3.59) will start for the Sooners. This will be his first appearance against the Owls this season.

These two teams have met twice this season. Rice won a February game at Reckling Park 8-2, while the Sooners avenged that loss with a 15-3 victory in Norman in April.
