Houston: Not a Good Day for the Starters
By Jeremy Mills - June 12, 2006
Neither starter made it out of the first inning Monday afternoon at Reckling Park. The two starters combined for 1 1/3 innings while walking four batters and allowing four runs. The ball-to-strike ratio was an ugly 28-to-19. Both relievers ended the threat by striking out their first hitter. Cole St. Clair is on the hill for Rice, as John Brownell (5-0, 4.94) has come in the Oklahoma.
Owl faithful aren't happy with the home plate umpire, but he hasn't looked bad on the TV replays in the press box.
Tied at 2, Sooners batting in the top of the second.
