Houston: Owls Fly Out to Early Lead

After Steven Guerra hit Tyler Henley and Greg Buchanan hit a chopper through the right side of the infield, Brian Friday hooked his ninth homer of the season around the left field foul pole to give Rice an early 3-0 lead against the Sooners.

Oklahoma skipper Sunny Galloway came out to argue the call with the third base umpire, but TV replays show the ball was fair by about five feet as it sailed over the 330' sign down the line.

The Rice fans are on the OU staff early. On his way back from visiting the mound, Galloway kicked the dirt on the first base line. That prompted the home plate umpire to start writing in his book (first warning of the game already!).
