Houston: Showdown at High Noon

By Jeremy Mills - June 11, 2006

Rice (54-10) and Oklahoma (44-21) square off at noon in the second game of the Houston Super Regional. The Owls captured the first game of the series with a 10-4 victory on Saturday. With another win today, Rice would advance to their fifth College World Series and earn their first trip to Omaha since their national championship in 2003. A Sooner victory would force a winner-take-all game tomorrow.

Daniel McCutchen (9-8, 4.00) toes the rubber for Oklahoma while Bobby Bell (8-0, 3.67) will start for the Owls. McCutchen threw 214 pitches over two outings during the Norman Regional, picking up the victory in the championship game for the Sooners. Bell pitched four scorless innings in relief during the Owls' regional opener against Prairie View.
