Houston: Waiting for the Offense

By Jeremy Mills - June 12, 2006

After both starters were forced from the game in the first inning, it seemed like the floodgates were open and the game was heading toward a 9-8 conclusion. Both relievers have pitched well, however, and with Rice coming to the plate in the bottom of the fourth the Sooners are still leading 4-3.

Owl stopper Cole St. Clair has allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings since striking out Kody Kaiser to end the first. Sooner reliever John Brownell also entered the game with a strikeout, and has allowed just an Aaron Luna solo homer among three hits and four walks over 4 1/3 innings. Both pitchers have been efficient, as St. Clair has thrown 73 pitches to Brownell's 58.
