Lexington: Charleston's Lovin' It!
By Chris Glasser - June 02, 2006
The rain is coming down in Lexington. And there's only more of it on the way. More importantly, though, Charleston has just tied it up in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run shot by Alex Garabedian. With runners on first and second and no outs, Garabedian hit it over the McDonald's "I'm lovin' it" power alley sign in left center.
The bomb and the rain have woken up the crowd here at Cliff Hagan Stadium. After five runs in the games first five half-innings, the bats had gone silent for both teams. And the crowd, most of whom are Wildcat fans, seemingly had lost interest.
The rain, though, got them up and into seats under the cover of the grand stand. Then the three-run homer got them standing and cheering.
The top of the seventh has begun, and Charleston has brought in a new pitcher, Quin Monsma, a tough lefty with a sub-three ERA.
