Lexington: Cougars Bat Around in First
By Chris Glasser - June 04, 2006
A lot happened in the top of the first inning, little of it good for Kentucky. Aaron Tennyson struck out the first two batters he faced -- that was the good part. But things quickly went south from there.
A record of what transpired:
-Larry Cobb hit a solo shot over the Blue Monster in right field (1-0 Charleston).
-Jess Easterling singled.
-Alex Garabedian singled.
-Ben Lasater walked.
-Graham Maiden was hit by a pitch. Easterling scored (2-0).
-Phillip Coker hit a grand slam to left (6-0).
-Joey Friddle hit an infield single.
-Friddle stole second.
-Clay McCord hit an infield single.
-Chris Campbell popped out to left field.
In all, Tennyson faced eleven batters. He gave up two home runs, had six earned runs, allowed six hits, walked one, hit one batter, and struck out two. And in the process, he may have pitched his team out of the tournament.
The Cats, though, are putting together their own rally in the bottom of the inning. At the moment, they've got the bases loaded with one out.
