NCAA: Texas turf not an advantage

By Eric Sorenson - June 03, 2006

During our previous Gametracker show on the air, I told Greg Amsinger that Texas had the better hitting team and that they play like a different team on that hot artificial turf. But I've now seen four plays in this Stanford game that the Texas infielders have had a tricky time with the fake stuff, one unfortunately took out 3B Nick Peoples.

Also, North Carolina is skinning the hyde of Winthrop's frosh hurler Alex Wilson. I thought this would be a nip-and-tuck game.

Florida State's Shane Robinson started the Noles game with Georgia with a wicked home run.

And Pat Murphy hasn't been too keen on the umpiring down in Houston today. Baylor leads 3-1 in the 7th. Greg and I may go on for another segment if that game gets over in time. Otherwise, CSTV will just cut to the Division II national title game between Chico State and Tampa.
