Oxford: Buying time for his pitcher
By Chris Kieffer - June 03, 2006
A good display of baseball strategy by Tulane left-fielder Matt Riser in the fifth. After Seth Henry and Ty Wallace had grounded out an a combined three pitches, Riser bought some time for TU starter Billy Mohl. Riser was slow coming to the plate, taking the doughnut off his bat, checking the pad on his left foot and tying his shoe before finally stepping into the batter's box. Mohl then took three pitches before he was thrown a strike. He then fouled out to end then inning.
