Oxford: Signing out from Mississippi

Quotes from post-game press conference:
B-CC coach Mervyl Melendez
I think one of the first questions is, 'Were we surprised to hang in there with Ole Miss?' Absolutely not. To be honest with you, I expected to win. Things don’t go right all the time. Before today, I though we had a good ballclub and a team that could compete with anybody out there. In all the press conferences, I didn’t really let you know how high I was on this team. I told you guys they’d play hard for the whole ball game.
You have to give it up for (OM pitcher) Will Kline. He did a heck of a job on the mound, and we just hung in there.
I told you that R.J. was going to fight. He’s a competitor. He will compete out there. I’m satifseid with the effort, I’m not satisfied with the output.
R.J. Rodriguez
I think I did a good job against Ole Miss, a decent enough job, especially against Ole Miss, a good ball club like we all know. I kept the ball down for the most part. They were hitting me hard early, but they were hitting it right at people and that’s why we have defense. Even if they hit me hard, we have guys there to catch it.
Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco
A great college baseball game tonight. Sort of what we imagined in Bethune-Cookman. They competed. They were tough. They didn’t play like a regular four-seed, they played like a team that’s been in regionals before like they have been. Rodriguez was everything we thought he would be. We had a tough time putting at bats together and we couldn’t swing any innings together. They didn’t make any errors, didn’t walk people, they didn’t open the door for us. It was a tough night offensively and thankfully Kline had a great night.
Ole Miss right fielder Mark Wright
You definitely feed off of (Brashear’s home run). I’d be lying if I didn’t say hitting a home run was on my mind those first couple of pitches. Then 3-2, I was kind of zoned in and I wasn’t trying to hit a home run, he threw me a changeup and got it up, and I was able to get a good swing on it.
