Oxford: Streak buster

By Chris Kieffer - June 03, 2006

Entering today's game against Tulane, Bethune-Cookman right-handed closer Francisco Gomez hadn't allowed a run since giving up a walk-off home run against Penn State March 9, a streak that lasted 18 outings and 13 innings. Gomez was perfect through 1.2 innings before getting in trouble in the sixth. Tulane loaded the bases with no outs on a single and two walked and then scored three runs on a sacrifice fly, a single and a double.
Gomez was just replaced by Hiram Burgos and is responsible for runners on second and third with one out.
Tulane 10, Bethune-Cookman 3, top 6
