Houston: Two More Innings, No More Runs

By Jeremy Mills - June 10, 2006

After scoring eight runs in the first two frames, neither team has scored since -- we head to the bottom of the 4th with Rice leading Oklahoma 6-2.

Rice is threatening in their half of the fourth, as Tyler Henley led off with a double and moved to third on a Greg Buchanan single.

The Owls had the best threat in the bottom of the third. Joe Savery led off the inning by drawing a walk, and Adam Zornes drew a free pass after one out. Jordan Dodson singled to left, but Kody Kaiser gunned down Savery at the plate and Danny Lehmann grounded to short to end the threat.

Oklahoma went in order in the third, but Kaiser followed his defensive gem with a single to lead off the fourth. Two straight groundouts moved him to third, where he was stranded when Joseph Hughes struck out to end the frame.

Degerman has thrown 68 pitches through four innings, so it might be an extended outing for the Rice bullpen on a warm Houston evening. John Brownell (5-0, 5.04) is on in relief for the Sooners, after Steven Guerra recorded just five outs on the night.
