Tuscaloosa: Alabama rolls through to Supers

By Mark Etheridge - June 04, 2006

Alabama finished off a pitching-weary Troy club 14-5 Sunday night to take the Tuscaloosa Regional title. Kody Valverde had five hits to finish 10-14 for the weekend. That was good enough to earn Regional MVP honors.

This one was put away early with a five run second and three run third. Troy walked eight batters, including three with the bases loaded.

Alabama will face North Carolina next weekend.

For those keeping score, there was no dogpile.

Here's the all-tournament team:

1B Spencer Pennington, Ala
2B Edgar Ramirez, Troy
SS Greg Paiml, Ala
3B Matt Downs, Ala
C Kody Valverde, Ala -- Also MVP
OF Mike Felix, Troy
OF Emeel Salem, Ala
OF Toddric Johnson, USM
UT Brian Dozier, USM
P Wade LeBlanc, Ala
P David Robertson, Ala
