Southern Miss.

This was supposed to be a slugfest. Offensive minded clubs Troy and Southern Miss won by the long ball all season. Both teams have had their problems finding inconsistent pitching.

Southern Miss followed the script early showing their Regional and big-stage experience scoring two runsin the first inning thanks to a two-out two-run single by Luke Adkins. Then Golden Eagle starting pitcher Barry Bowden sat down the Troy hitters 1-2-3.

USM picked up where they left off in the second as they already have three hits in the inning. If not for a strong throw to the plate by Trojan centerfielder Ian Craze, USM would have another run already this inning.
