Tuscaloosa: One of best I've seen all year

By Mark Etheridge - June 03, 2006

I see between 75 and 100 college games each season in many venues. This one tonight ranks up there with some of the best like the Thursday Georgia/Kentucky game the last week of the regular season in Athens and the five runs in the 9th comeback by Georgia over Vanderbilt last Saturday in Hoover.

This is one both sides will talk about for years.

Here are some quotes from the press conference:

“We knew it would be a hard-fought game,” Alabama head coach Jim Wells said. “These guys are good. They are one of the best teams we have played all season. But we make it hard to win because of our lack of offense and some bad defense.”

“That was a great college baseball game,” said Troy head coach Bobby Pierce. “That is what kids sign up for. It was a tough loss for us but our kids laid it on the line as they have all season. We had our opportunities to score but credit Alabama - they made the pitches they had to make.”
