Tuscaloosa: Wild Bard
By Mark Etheridge - June 10, 2006
Well, Daniel Bard throws really hard. You can ask any of the three Alabama batters he hit in his 2+ innings in game two Saturday. Those hit batters, along with two walks and three hits ended Bard's outing early. It could have been much worse since Alabama left six men on base in the first three innings and had two nailed at the plate.
Alabama also picked up a run in the third as Matt Downs hit one over the leftfield scoreboard off Matt Danford.
North Carolina is within a run thanks to Reid Fronk's RBI double and Chad Flack's triple. Flack scored on a Jay Cox groundout.
Alabama starter Tommy Hunter has pitched well but allowed two extra base hits - both producing a run.
