Checking in from Mobile

By Mark Etheridge - February 24, 2007

What ever you do, don't depend on Weather.com to decide your wardobe. Yesterday it forecasted a 70 degree sunny day. Me and my short sleeves are still waiting for the 20 degree temp rise. With the brisk gulf breeze, its a bit chilly here in the port city.

I did stop on the way in at the regionally famous Wintzell's Oyster House. You have to do seafood when you hit Mobile. I've got another place in mind for tonight - The Orginal Oyster House that is located on the causeway.

This is day two of Mobile's version of the Coca Cola Classic - not to be confused with the ones in Hattiesburg, Houston, Slapout, and Crusted Butte.

Day one saw Auburn and Jacksonville swap three run eighth innings with the Tigers winning 7-6. South Alabama beat Michigan 5-1 in the nightcap.

Today has the host team South Alabama taking on Jacksonville and Auburn against Michigan State in the nightcap. We'll be getting underway in a few minutes.
