Hittin' It Yonder

By Adam Aizer - February 10, 2007

Better start updating your Player of the Year Watch Lists.

UM sophomore first baseman Yonder Alonso is unreal. He just sent a pitch deep over the center field wall for his second home run of the game, and his third of the season. This time, it was a two-run shot to give Miami a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the third.

Alonso is now hitting .666 with three home runs and five RBI. All Miami needs is the other guys in the order to start hitting well. Alonso has been intentionally walked three times already this season. That's really not something you see nearly as often in college baseball as you do in the MLB. I have a feeling he'll be intentionally walked at some point tonight if this game gets close.

Oh and with his two home runs tonight, Alonso is showing that he can hammer both righties and lefties.

UCLA is out of the inning. 5-2 Canes after three complete.
