Nice inning for Hallberg
By Mark Etheridge - February 04, 2007
FSU shortstop Mark Hallberg transferred in from Illinois-Chicago where starred for the Flames. Last season Hallberg won the NCAA statistical category as the toughest player to strikeout. He fanned just six times all season. Before the second inning today, Hallberg was presented a award for that designation.
In the top of the inning, Hallberg made a diving stab of a hot grounder to short, made a quick flip from his knees to second baseman Tony Thomas Jr who completed the inning-ending double play.
But is didn't end the inning, just the Tennessee half. Hallberg had a bases-loaded double to highlight a nine-run second inning. In that enormous inning, thirteen men came to play with the first nine reaching. FSU scored eight runs before the first out was recorded.
It is 12-0 in the bottom of the third now.
