Rice: pitchers' duel continues
By Amber Obermeyer - February 23, 2007
Rice has started to hit the ball a little bit harder against Storey, but none of them have fallen for hits. In the bottom of the third, Gayhart lined out to right-center, and Savery just got under a fly-out to left field. And Florida Atlantic centerfielder Daniel Cook robbed Rice's Diego Seastrunk of a second line-drive, extra-base hit with a fantastic over-the-shoulder catch on the warning track in straightaway center.
In other news, Kelley has hit 90 on the (admittedly friendly) RIce radar gun. And, in the interest of completeness, the Florida Atlantic lineup includes one left-handed (Widlansky) and two switch (Bomback and Cook) hitters.
The Rice hitters have shown more patience than I've seen in other games this season; one good example was Chad Lembeck waiting on a changeup from Storey and turning it into a Texas League double...especially since Storey struck him out on the same pitch earlier in the game.
