San Diego Cruisin' with the 'Tus
By Glenn Tanner - February 02, 2007
Texas trails 6-1 at the seventh-inning stretch, and just blew a big chance to get back into it. The Horns got their first run in the sixth and loaded the bases with two outs, but San Diego freshman reliever AJ Griffin came on to get the final out.
Final line for Texas starter Randy Boone: 4.1 IP, 9 hits, 5 runs, all earned, although a couple shouldn’t have been – one “base hit” was a potential double play ball that Texas shortstop Chais Fuller fumbled. UT broadcaster Keith Moreland actually walked into the press area to ask how it could have been scored a hit.
Brian Matusz went 5.2 innings, allowing only one run on five hits and striking out 8. He was impressive. Look out for this guy, West Coast Conference!
(OK, so it's pronounced "Mat-tis." I think he should do a Joe Theeeeeesman and change his pronounciation.)
