Stan-UT: I Hate the Uniform Start Date

By Glenn Tanner - February 18, 2007

Because of the Uniform Start Date to be instituted next year, no baseball will be played on February 18, 2008.

I know my button is stuck on this issue, but I jeez, I just spent a couple of innings watching the game sitting in warm glorious sunshine.

It's 2-1 Stanford after three innings.

Texas got a run in the first thanks to Travis Tucker's two-out RBI single, the sixth time Tucker has reached base safely in nine plate appearances this weekend.

Stanford had a great opportunity for a huge inning in the third, but settled for taking the lead. The first four Cardinal hitters of the inning singled, with two runs coming home on Brent Milleville's single. Texas pitcher Austin Wood then plunked the next hitter load the bases with none out. Wood miraculously escaped, however, getting a short flyout, a foul out to the catcher, and a strikeout.

Wood is out of the game to start the fourth, and Hunter Harris on the mound in relief.

This is also the last regular season game for Texas at Dell Diamond. Renovations to Disch-Falk Field will be temporarily halted, and Texas and Texas State will christen the halfway-renovated stadium on Tuesday. Renovations are scheduled to resume immediately following the end of the regular season, so if Texas is named a Regional host, games will be played here at Dell Diamond. If Texas were to host a Super Regional, it would be in San Antonio’s Wolff Stadium.

As for the Disch renovations, here's a link to some pictures a Hornfan took a couple of days ago.
