Stan-UT: Ready for Round 2

By Glenn Tanner - February 17, 2007

It's cloudless again and warmer today, but the biggest difference is the wind. At least two of Texas' four homers yesterday were breeze-aided, but the winds today have shifted, blasting from the northeast, and will knock down anything hit in the air to left.

Today's starting pitchers are Jeffrey Inman for Stanford and Adrian Alaniz for Texas. Inman's a highly recruited freshman whom the Cardinal are really excited about. Unoffically, he has one and a half collegiate starts -- he opened well against Fullerton in the second game of the season before the Titans bashed him around in the fifth inning, then he "started" the resumption of a suspended game against Fresno State, pitching five innings and allowing only one run. Alaniz is a fourth-year junior coming off a slightly disappointing sophomore season. As a redshirt freshman, he posted a 2.67 ERA, pitched a no-hitter against Oklahoma and got the win in the national championship game. He wasn't bad last season (7-4, 4.18 ERA), just not as good as expected.

Big crowd today at Round Rock's Dell Diamond!

The Longhorns are on the field and we're ready to go...
