A High Visibility Crowd

By Mark Etheridge - March 03, 2007

The 7000 or so packed into Doug Kingsmore Stadium here in Clemson are dressed in the best, bright orange. It is quite a sight for the orange with purple mixed in for this standing room only crowd. As I walked through an opening between rows of fans to enter the ballpark, they broke into a Clemson cheer. The excitement in this crowd is tough to top, as both sides want this one a little more than usual game.

South Carolina scored a pair in the first on doubles by Cheyne Hurst and Justin Smoak. The slugging Gamecocks followed with three more in the third on a long three-run home run by Phil Disher.

It's 5-0 visitors and the home orange is silently sitting waiting on a chance to explode.
