Carolina fires the first shot....

Justin Smoak delivered and sent a single through the middle to give South Carolina their first run of the game. Price was able to stop the bleedig in a hurry by stirking out the next two Gamecocks hitters in the order to retire the side.

On another note, the crowd here at Sarge Frye is remarkably quiet even after picking up their first run of the ballgame and the early lead. Perhaps Price's last two strikeouts deflated some of the momentum here,
