Is there a better name for a slugger?

Justin Smoak never had a chance. He had to be an athlete. Either a hard-throwing pitcher, a line-drive pounding hitter, or a hot-shooting hoops star.

As it is, the South Carolina sophomore is Smoaking opposing pitching. He just RBI doubled and scored in the fifth to push his Gamecocks out to a 5-2 advantage in the bottom of the fifth.
