Alabama loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth. LSU brought in Nolan Cain. Cain caught both Jeff Texada and Greg Paiml looking and got two strikes on Emeel Salem. Salem tapped a ball out in front of the plate and beat the throw to first to score a run.

LSU scored a run in the fifth with a pair of infield hits and a solid RBI single to center by Blake Dean.
