Nashville: Cronk connects!

By Chris Lee - March 11, 2007

Vandy reserve Adam Cronk is perhaps the Commoodres' best batting-practice hitter outside Pedro Alvarez, but in his third year at Vandy, has yet to really make a mark on the field in his three-year career.

But with the Commodores blowing out Illinois-Chicago 11-1, Cronk got to pinch-hit for Kurt Lipton in the seventh. With two men on, smashed a towering home run on to the basketball concourse in right-center, a shot that traveled well over 400 feet for the first home run and accounted for the second, third and fourth RBI's of his career.

Cronk, a popular teammate, was mobbed at home by teammates, and looked relieved as he crossed home plate after breaking the power drought in his 28th career at-bat.

It's 14-1 Vandy, as the Commodores have now finished their turn at the dish in the seventh.
