Nashville: Doubled off

By Chris Lee - March 11, 2007

For the second time in three innings, Vandy's Brett Jacobson got out of trouble with a double play.

The first was the conventional 6-3 variety in the first. In the third, with Chad Schroeder on first via a one-out walk, Schroeder took off to second and got all the way to the bag before he realized that teammate Jake Carr had popped up near the line in right.

Carr tried to sprint back, but it was far too late. Right fielder Dominic de la Osa immediately saw what happened, and gunned a throw to Kurt Lipton at first that beat Carr by 15 feet, and Jacobson was out of the inning.

Still 6-1 Vandy as Lipton leads off the third with an opposite-field single.
