Oh What A Weekend

By Doug Kroll - March 02, 2007

I'm glad it's Friday, and I'm glad that we have baseball tonight. I just wish i could be at any one of the games that Touching the Bases will be at all weekend long, instead of walking home in a torrential downpour here in NYC. It is one of our biggest weekends yet, with three series involving both teams in the Top 25. We will be at a total of 15 games when the last out is recorded on Sunday, so here's a look at Friday's schedule, with a little preview to boot.

6:00pm ET: Anthony Dasher- USC at Georgia- The young Trojans hope a cross-country journey can jump start them before heading into Pac-10 play. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are hoping to finally get a win against a Pac-10 team at home after being swept by Oregon St. earlier in the year.

7:00pm ET: Mark Etheridge- No. 10 Arizona St. at No. 23 Auburn- Expect some runs to be scored in this one, as anytime you get the Pac-10 and SEC together, it's a good time. Both teams have ridiculous batting averages to start the year. (I definitely just jinxed it and we'll be looking at a 1-0, 13 inning thriller. For Mark's sake, I hope not.)

7:30pm ET: Glenn Tanner- No. 7 Oregon St. at No. 30 Texas A&M- The defending champs get one more taste of the road this weekend when they head to College Station. They FINALLY will play in Corvallis as defending national champs next weekend against Evansville. Let's see if they can finish up the non-conf. road schedule strong.

8:00pm ET: Alex Gyr- Cal at Stanford- When put next to each other in this sense, it has an awesome ring to it no matter what the sport is. These two Bay Area rivals will play a non-conference series this weekend at the Sunken Diamond.

10:00pm ET: Jason Owens- No. 6 Rice at No. 9 Fullerton- Wow. Just wow. Two teams everyone has penciled in to their CWS brackets take to the field in SoCal for a ridiculous non-conference series. It's amazing that Fullerton's Wes Roemer may have more losses than all of last year (3) by the time the night is over. That deserves another, wow.

Enjoy the action everybody.
