Quotes below...
Oregon State Head Coach, Pat Casey-
On Chris Hopkins-
Hopkins’ been struggling offensively it was really nice to get him to swing the bat. Sometimes you give a guy an opportunity to play and they respond and you feel like you made the right decision and then sometimes you don’t. I was happy for Chris.
On Mike Stutes and the game-
I thought Mike was good; San Francisco is a good ball club. We did good offensively against a guy that is real, real good. It was nice to get on the board early. It was good.
Oregon State Centerfielder, Chris Hopkins-
On his big game and homerun-
It’s always good, I felt confident before the game today. That’s my job to get on base that sparks the team. I didn’t know, I wasn’t quite sure that it was out. I knew after the sound off the cage.
Oregon State Starting Pitcher, Mike Stutes-
On the game-
They are good. The key to the game was to get ahead of these guys. Two of my three hits were givin’ up on 2 and 0 fastballs, that’s been the key for me this year. It makes it a lot easier knowing your job is just to get guys out. There guy is probably a first rounder and our guys knocked him around the yard, and that’s what they are capable of. You have to try not to relax. When we are up 9 to 1 you think ‘need to get my focus back.’
On giving up a homerun to fellow Oregonian Luke Sommer-
No, no I didn’t say anything to Luke. I was looking for him after the game. He hit’s me well. He knows what he is doing. He is probably their best player.
