Oregon State: We have line-up's

By Casey Grogan - March 16, 2007

Over the winter OSU replaced it’s dirt and grass infield with FieldTurf. The only dirt on the field is on the mound and at the plate. The Beavers seem to like the turf as it slows down groundballs considerably.

I am expecting quite a few scouts at the park today with the pitching match-up of Mike Stutes (4-0, 2.86 ERA) against USF’s Aaron Poreda (3-1, 2.41). Poreda is one of the top pitchers on the west coast, and OSU head coach Pat Casey knows it. Earlier in the week he told me that Poreda’s fastball touches 95 miles per hour.

Starting line-ups below...

University of San Francisco Dons (9-9)
CF Jonnie Knoble (.300, 6 stolen bases)
LF Zach Kim (.381, 1 HR)
2B Joey Railey (.379, 5 SB)
1B Mitchell Bialosky (.370, 2 HR)
DH Blake Nelson (making fifth start of season)
RF Luke Sommer (Canby, OR native; .216, 4 SB)
C Jonathan Norfolk (.340 SLG%)
3B Brian Chavez (.367 SLG)
SS Tavo Hall (8 SB)
P Aaron Poreda (2.41 ERA, 27 Strikeouts)

# 5 Oregon State Beavers (17-3)
SS Darwin Barney (18 RBI, .415 SLG)
CF Chris Hopkins (6 SB)
DH Mike Lissman (.325, 21 RBI)
1B Jason Ogata (.416 OB%)

C Mitch Canham (.386, grand slam last weekend)
LF Scotty Berke (.375, third start, second start at OSU)
