OSU-A&M: Cure for a case of the Mondays

By Glenn Tanner - March 05, 2007

Remember how all of the annoying people in "Office Space" kept telling Peter, "Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays?"

Well, we've found the cure for a case of the Mondays! It's college baseball, played between two nationally-ranked teams on a warm, beautiful, cloudless day at Olsen Field in College Station.

A&M will be the "visiting" team today (officially, this is a tournament) and will send Kirkland Rivers to the mound for his first start of the season. The juco transfer has pitched six innings in six relief appearances this season, posting a 1.50 ERA. Oregon State will counter with Anton Maxwell. Maxwell was a midweek starter on occasion last season, and has one start and a 2.70 ERA in 6.2 innings under his belt this season.

A&M comes into the game with a sparkling 15-1 record. They are ranked in several polls, and a win today will most likely put them in the rest of them. Oregon State is 13-3 and at the end of a long road -- all 16 games have been away from home. The Beavers will head back to Corvallis after the game, with their first home game scheduled for Thursday.

First pitch coming up! Sorry the rest of you are stuck at work with a case of the Mondays...
