Oxford: Restless fans

By Chris Kieffer - March 10, 2007

UCLA leads 6-1 going into the bottom of the fifth.
And the fans are a bit restless.

There was the one fan, angry about a strike call on an Ole Miss hitter, who could be heard on the next pitch (in the dirt) pleading "why don't you call that one."
A bit later the game had to be stopped briefly for an announcement for fans to stop throwing objects onto the field. The object in question (I didn't see it) was in left field. With several kids out there, it could have very easily been a ball accidentally overthrown by a kid.
Ole Miss fans are also impatient with UCLA sophomore left-hander Tim Murphy and his slow delivery.
All three of UCLA's pitchers this weekend have had slow deliveries, but it has worked for Murphy in keeping Ole Miss hitters off balanced.
The Rebels have six hits but only one run through four. Murphy has done a great job of mixing a good changeup and curvebaall with a fastball in the upper 80s in keeping OM hitters off balanced.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss sophomore right-hander Lance Lynn has survived some early hiccups to put up zeros in the fourth and fifth and remain in the game.
