Rice-Fullerton: No Excuses for Roemer

By Jason Owens - March 02, 2007

Not that he's been vocal about his lack of run support, but Wes Roemer can't complain tonight. After posting three outs in three batters at the top of the first, Roemer enters the second inning with a 6-0 cushion. Aided by two errors from Rice shortstop Brian Friday, the Titan bats opened up with a first-inning fury against Rice pitcher Chris Kelley, who entered the game with a 2.04 ERA.

Right fielder Chris Jones tallied the biggest hit of the inning, a one-out, two-RBI double down the right-field line to give the Titans a 4-0 lead. Second baseman Joel Weeks followed up with a two-RBI single of his own to secure the 6-0 lead.
