Rice-Fullerton: Owls Bullpen... Not so Good

By Jason Owens - March 03, 2007

You won't see this in the box score every day.

In the bottom of the seventh, Rice pitcher Mike Ojala hit Fullerton batter Chris Jones. One wild pitch later, Jones took second, where Doug Gerbasi took his place as a pinch runner. Another wild pitch later, Gerbasi took third. Any guesses as to what happened next?

Yep -- you guessed it. Ojala tossed another wild pitch, sending Gerbasi home for a 9-3 Fullerton lead. That was the end of the night for Ojala, who left the mound with Bryan Harris on first base.

In came reliever Bryan Price, who allowed a run in the more traditional sense (on Ojala's tab, of course) when Clark Hardman sent Harris home with a long double down the left field line to pad Fullerton's lead 10-3.
